The signal came from over the horizon way off in the distance, a single flare. Masaru knew that it meant trouble, it was one of the few he had taught to Amaya for incase she was in trouble. Though this couldn't be her, it was way too far away from the village for it to be her. Still it was a sign of distress, something that Masaru could not ignore. He would head out immediately for the source that created the flare, hoping that he would be able to reach them before it was too late. He would run as fast as he could towards the flare, the whole time his mind racing with the possibilities of who sent up the flare and why. To his knowledge there were no other shinobi within the land of Earth save for those few still in Iwagakure, but most certainly not out here in the wild. His mind would run with the possibilities, the endless and even some absurd possibilities. Until finally he got closer to the site, it was as if a hurricane had came through here. Trees torn up from the roots, giant craters in the earth. It was unclear what exactly had happened, but one thing was for certain. There had been a battle here. Masaru instantly began searching the area for any signs of life, seeing some Shuriken and Kunai in a fallen tree however made the man's heart sink. There had been shinobi here, whether if had been a battle between foreign shinobi or not did not matter to the man. If they were foreigners Masaru would just track any that remained down and eliminate them, but what if what tore up the trees was not a mere shinobi but something else entirely. The thought popped into the man's head at almost the same time he found the source of the flare, not even 500 meters from where the man stood, on the ground directly underneath the flare that still hung in the sky laid a body. Masaru would approach the body with caution, wary of booby traps and the like, that is until he got closer to the body. It was a boy, couldn't have been much older than fifteen if even that. The boy was on death's doorstep by the time Masaru arrived, leaving nothing for the man to be able to do to help the boy. On the outside Masaru would maintain his normal distant demeanor, but on the inside his heart was falling apart at watching this poor boy struggle with life. "It was... It was supposed to be easy." The boy struggled to speak before coughing up blood, "we thought... we could take it out... bring it back to the village... as a trophy for you... It was too strong... I'm sorry my Kage..." The boy would cough up more blood before finally death arrived to take his soul away. The words would play over and over in Masaru's head as his eyes fell to the boys belt before starting around the area around the boy, four other boy's that looked to be the same age as this one wearing the same getup as the first boy and all of them dead. The words 'my Kage' echoed in the man's mind again as his eyes fell back to the boy's belt, he had no doubt that the other four's belts would bare the same markings. The symbol of the village hidden in the Stone, these boys where shinobi of Iwagakure and now they laid dead at the Tsuchikage's feet. Anger began to swell within the man as he stood back to his feet, the words of the boy still playing in his head as he looked at the paper he pulled out of the boys pocket. Sightings of a giant, they had come out here like a bunch of idiots looking for a blasted giant and got themselves killed. Masaru cursed himself for not locking the village down and preventing anyone from leaving, but he couldn't blame them. Like him they were trying to help the land of Earth, they just chose a fight that was way out of their league. Masaru would pay the boy's the same respect he would pay to any shinobi that died in line of his service, he would use the body elimination technique to turn their bodies to ash before making a mental note to speak with the idiot that passes out assignments for giving these boys such an impossible task. With the bodies now dust Masaru would turn towards the direction the giant must have gone based on the destruction, it was time he took care of this Giant as well as for vengeance for those boys.
