Ashitaka wandered the marketplace, the current volume of his notebook in hand and opened to the page containing the list of things he planned to buy today, assuming he had the money:

150 feet of Steel Wire

1 Shinai, or failing that, the materials to make one

5 Smoke Bombs

1 Backpack

1 Baldric

6 Holsters for Kunai

As much armor as he could afford after getting the above.

Looking around, Ashitaka learned that 20,000 Ryo was not in fact as much as it sounded like. It seemed like even getting the most basic of supplies was going to run him dry. Well, at least he could run entry-level missions to get his finances back on top and maybe eventually give him the opportunity to have fun sitting around making imaginary things real all day. As things stood, he was first going to have to tally how much what he was already looking to buy was going to cost him. So he went back to his list and added prices next to the items as he encountered them.

After all that, he had more than enough left over for a leather vest, although not quite enough for any other pieces of armor. He was surprised they made them in his size, but was told they were usually meant for dogs. Ashitaka would have been insulted, but he was too happy the villagers were taking such good care of their dogs. He paid for his goods and left after arranging everything so that he could carry it.

Azalea stepped into the shop and moved to the familiar shopkeeper who looked at her and smiled in welcome. Of course he would, she was about to buy things. So it isn't exactly shocking that he would be happy to see her. Stepping up to the counter she would speak, a friendly smile on her features. "Morning Yoshiro, how are you today? Can I get 7 units of steel please?" She'd ask, her eyes bright and hopeful. The large man behind the counter would not his head in the affirmation. "I'm fine, and indeed you can Azalea, 2,625 Ryo please." He would say, prompting her to set the money on the counter while he retrieved the material and brought it back before ringing in the purchase and bagging it for her. "Have a great day!" He'd call as she left, prompting her to wave farewell.

Buying 7 units of steal for 2,625 Ryo, taking into account the 25% discount from comfortable living.
