The Konohagakure Market District.
It was territory that Ikomiki was very closely familiar with. Even before she had a name for it to put together with the image she knew very clearly what it was. As just a kitten, first exploring the urban jungle of Konohagakure, that young Ikomiki had known from the very moment she laid eyes upon this land that she was seeing something incredible. Market stalls, swarthy merchants dressed in silks and gems selling carpets. Men from the countryside with well worn hands selling their produce. It was a labyrinth of indoors and outdoors that stretched into each other, where anyone was able to sell their wares. All of it crammed together into this primary street, every square inch felt as though it was fought over as prime territory amongst these squabbling traders. Maybe to them it represented something simple, like real estate or business opportunities or whatever. All just different words for money. But the little girl who had come here so long ago had seen excess for the first time. The sheer luxury of humans and their material possessions. Even with all her power, thinking of herself as a dangerous animal in the wild, she was still only a little girl back then. Her ribs had been showing, dirty and scrawny. Every meal was a dangerous fight, and she had not a single possession to call her own. But here…
Many times as a child she had gorged herself on just the excess waste that people left lying around, or simply stole what she needed to be happy. And nobody had ever noticed the difference as far as she could tell. There was so much, more than the bounty of a thousand thousand forests like the one which she had called her home. But today she didn’t need to be satisfied with petty theft or rooting around in the trash.
Now she had a rich boyfriend who could buy her nice things!
Her hand was rather closely clutched around Akihiro’s, holding his hand so that their fingers would be intertwined. After what had happened recently between the two of them she had become rather… Physically demanding. It was rare now that there were moments that Akihiro could spend without her grabbing a hold of him in some way, almost always without asking first. Just merely holding his hand was rather light on what had become normal as well. Normally she would be holding him tighter, pressing his arm against her chest… But the fact that they were in a crowd perhaps dissuaded her a bit from that more intimate level of affection.
All the men and women, shinobi and merchants and civilians, blended into one object. A single crowd, a single sound. Her eyes scanned around it all, the various shops both indoors and outdoors. Despite the fact that she was holding his hand it was more like she was holding onto him to lead him around, pulling Akihiro this way and that way as whatever shiny bauble caught her eye to stare at for a few moments before moving onto the next thing that piqued her curiosity. Finally…
Pointing over to one of the shops at the edge of the corner, she would turn back to Akihiro with a silent stare. It was some sort of women’s clothing store, just by the looks of it. Mannequins lined the front of the store, being on display behind panes of glass window.
“Can we go there?”
