Culture/Lore: The contract between the Hozuki Clan and the Clams of the Bikil Pit can be traced back to Yukata, the Hozuki Clan’s legendary hero. The contract was originally a personal one made early one during his reign as head of the Hozuki Clan, but due to their extreme usefulness in combat at sea the contract was soon expanded to be with the general Hozuki Clan rather than just their head. Rumors of mirages and deceiving mists supporting the Hozuki Clan in their naval dominance are a direct result of this contract, with these clams often playing a supportive role using wide-range Genjutsu during naval conflict. As a result of the manner in which this contract was written no individual Hozuki has to sign it, but rather they may access it simply through having Hozuki blood.

Summoning Method: Given that the Hozuki Clan lack the ability to easily access their own blood, these clams can be summoned through the user striking their body across any surface (including the user’s body). This will produce a blast of smoke before instantly summoning the requested creature to their location. Striking a liquid surface allows the creatures to be summoned directly into the body of water that was struck.

Drawbacks: All summons have minus one tier to their Constitution for attacks that don’t hit their shell, and instead hit their soft and fleshy interior. In reverse, they are treated as though they have Constitution of one tier higher for attacks that do hit their shells.

The Ōhamaguri, better known as the Giant Clam, is the boss summon of the Hozuki Clan’s Clam Contract. Unlike other summons, this clam seems to lack its own personality and is completely loyal to its summoner regardless of the intention, even if it means fighting Kirigakure shinobi. Aside from its massive size, it resembled an ordinary clam. Several prominent dark lines encircle both the upper and lower portions of its shell, while the Kirigakure symbol is inscribed upon its top. This clam is six meters tall, seventeen meters wide, and fifteen meters long.
The Ōhamaguri is blind, deaf, and mute. Thus to be able to communicate with it special methods must be used, such as the Clam Head Technique.

Description: A wide-ranged genjutsu technique where the summoner, in conjunction with the Ōhamaguri, is able to manifest realistic mirages using the mist exuded by the clam. The mist exuded from the clam’s siphons is loaded with chakra, and densely packs the area of effect of this technique with the clam’s chakra. Through manipulating this chakra mirages are able to be formed. It is impossible for observers to distinguish the mirages from the real thing through normal methods, such as through sensory or dojutsu. This property makes the technique ideal for concealing the actual location of either individual, resulting in confusion amongst the opposition as their attacks are rendered ineffective and they attempt to ascertain the pair's true positions. However, in order to maintain the illusions, the clam must continually exude the mist from its siphons, throughout the duration of the technique.
Despite being called a genjutsu and creating realistic illusions this technique does not use the same principles that genjutsu does, and thus is not technically a genjutsu. Rather than sending chakra to infiltrate an opponent's sensory system internally, the chakra from this technique never leaves the mist. The manipulation of mist and thus the air allows for the user to create realistic mirages as well as hide what already exists through altering light, create vibrations that mimic voice, halt and limit the spread of smells through the air. This effectively allows for the manipulation of four of the five senses, with only direct physical touch being left out. Through the concentration of chakra in the mist chakra based sensory is rendered equally useless. Rather than a genjutsu this is an extremely sophisticated sensory and anti-sensory technique. The clam's own ability to use the sensing technique is not negatively affected by this technique.
The only method to truly end this technique is to defeat the real clam.
Weaknesses: Area of effect wind techniques of at least A-Rank can temporarily blow away the mist in the area of the wind’s effect, but the constant leaking of mist from the clam’s siphons will mean that it will simply return the next post.
Contact type methods of sensory continue to work throughout this technique, providing a quick way to defeat the clam and end the technique.

Appearance: A small, edible variety of clam that is often eaten in miso soup, Shijimi is a black clam with a shell that has a diameter of 15 mm. A variety of tiny holes are present throughout Shijimi’s shell, bored in both irregular and regular patterns, and these holes allow for the clam to ‘sing’, or effectively make nose through pulling in air and then blowing it out through these holes. Different holes may be blocked by the clam’s tongue in order to create different sounds, and through this ability Shijimi may use any technique that would require a flute through simply using its own shell in this manner.

Appearance: A large spiny oyster, roughly 1 meter in length and 1 meters in width at her widest point. Sekitsui is a beautiful orange color. Despite being a spiny oyster, she is not actually an oyster, and is rather just a large, spiked clam. She has a large number of spines coming out of each side of her shell, with a few of the longer ones being a meter in length, and the rest generally being half that length. Her tongue, which is a deep blue color, can stretch out to protrude up to 2 meters from her shell.

Description: A powerful genjutsu that creates the illusion of drowning triggered by the opponent looking at the user creating the hand seals. If the target is caught in this genjutsu, a visual illusion will affect the target that will make it appear as though they are underwater. Targets will find themselves unable to breathe, and will feel the sensation of their lungs, mouth, and sinuses being covered with numerous scratches, and then filling completely with salt water. This can trigger an immediate grasping at the neck, sputtering and coughing, abdominal swelling, or even reflexive vomiting, and causes extreme pain to the chest, throat, and sinuses. This is A-Rank psychological damage, and takes one post to set in. If the target is already completely submerged underwater or is drowning, this will instead cause happen instantly, and will remove the weakness of this technique that makes the user be immobile.

Appearance: A small common clam, of the variety and color that would typically be seen when ordering clams at a restaurant. Despite this appearance Sakamush is intelligent, and able to speak just as a human would. It's most used position is placed around the ear or in the hair of a member of the Hozuki Clan, where it relates its sensory information through subtle whispers.
Thousands of clams are bred for these purposes by the Hozuki Clan, all generally referred to by the same name. As a result, multiple Sakamushi's may be summoned at the same time without issue.
