Mōtimā makes some tea Empty Mōtimā makes some tea

Today, Mort decided to have some tea.

Now, this wasn't the first time he had tea as he often enjoyed having green tea eveery so often, but today he felt like trying a tea he'd heard of from a friend: Rooibos Red Tea. Supposedly the plant was found not in the Land of Tea, but instead in parts of Kumo as well as Suna. Why the plant would grow in two distinctly separate areas yet still manage to grow all the same was beyond him, but that was fine. He never did grasp simpler concepts, yet somehow still managed to get through life all the same.

Opening the cabinet he'd pull out the bush-like plant as well as a kettle & teapot. While the kettle was a simple thing of iron, the teapot was beautiful. It was a smooth and thick ceramic teapot with their clan symbol on the left side, while the right side had symbols of many different lands that the Kurama had visited beforehand, each one layered over each other in a strangely appealing mess. It was a gift he had received once he became a proper Genin, and while it was definitely not a normal gift one would give a new ninja, he couldn't bring himself to ever get rid of it.

He'd set the kettle over the sink and slowly fill it with water, he'd look outside the window. It was lovely, a simple sunny day with a little bit of overcast; just enough that the sun's rays wouldn't get in his eyes while others could still enjoy the warmth they gave off. But he couldn't enjoy the sun just yet, he had tea to make. Turning off the faucet he'd take the kettle and set it on top of the burner. Almost all of the stove tops in kumo were electric as far as he'd seen, yet many of the kurama stuck to gas-powered, finding flames to be the more practical. A few others, including his own place, had it set up where half the burners were gas, and the other half electric. That way if one ran out the other was still viable.

Sitting down he'd begin to read a book as he waited for the water to boil. it was a simple book, one that talked about the philosophy of nature chakra and how it impacted one's personality. The thing was dreadfully boring, but he gave his word to himself that he'd get through it. While a fair amount of it did make some sense, with natural Katons having a high ambition, and Raitons often being determined to the point of being detrimental, it was Fuuton that struck him the most interesting. As the rarest of the five natures it wasn't the most well documented next to advanced elements, yet those with wind as their primary affinity were often the most divergent. While many were passionate , just as many were nonchalant. Honestly Mort found it all a bit ridiculous. Sure, nature affinity may have a part to play in it, but what about nurture? Surely that had some part to play.

The kettle would begin to screech, spooking the boy and dropping his book onto the ground. "Dangit." He'd pick up the book and slip a bookmark into where he was last at, then move the kettle off the burner and prep the teapot. Quickly after he'd put a few Rooibos leaves into the strainer and pour the water into the pot and let it start to steep. As the flavor slowly made it's way into the water he'd bring the pot to the small porch his home had, the clouds giving him a bit of shade. Satisfied, Mort would set the pot down and go back in to get a cup. Searching the shelves he'd find a sutible cup, a nice round mug with the symbol for Frost.

Walking back outside he'd begin to pour himself some tea. The smell was woody and slightly nutty, and after letting it cool a little bit more so he could taste it it had the same result. He'd sit there, enjoying his tea for a while, the sun shining on his face all the while.
