Clan History/Description
There are many tales about the origins of the Tsuchigomu. Not dissimilar to that of the genesis of Earth and Humanity. Some tales talk about a divine who granted the spiders sentience. Others hush of dark alchemy combining spider and chakra. Still others assume a natural evolution as chakra spread throughout the world. The truth? Well... Certainly the clan doesn't care that much. To them, the only truth is the matter of survival and a persistent evolution towards more. Towards something better. The evolution towards the perfect predator.
What once started as a handful of chakra spiders has long since developed into a full brood. Their origins may once have laid deep within the forests that now make Konohagakure, but the persistent presence of people and war forced the Tsuchigumo to adapt and move out direction new dreams. A great many died along that road, for spiders are rather frail by nature, but the losses didn't outweigh the gains they procured. What started as forced nomadism as the few looked for survival, was eventually turned into an opportunity. Nomads became travelling merchants, artists and hired forces. They grew more efficient with their natural abilities as their mastery over chakra grew. Then those travelling troops evolved into a small settlement, living as one with nature. They turned the trappings of their webs into desirable silk and their venoms into medicine. Former warriors picked up the arts of the shinobi, and 'mere footfolk' became reputable opponents as they created their own secret arts.
While the Tsuchigumo are far from being a full-fledged civilisation akin to human kind, they have earned some renown throughout history. Their kind is spread across the world, serving minor factions most of all as the greater cities often overlook their 'primitive' talents. But perhaps, as the Tsuchigumo continue to evolve and new spiderlings mature to respectable members, dawn may yet rise upon the wild brood of spiders.
The Tsuchigumo are, in the simplest of essences, spider shapeshifters. No matter their form - spider or human - they maintain an affinity for the wild and often take a penchant for typical arachnid abilities.

Rather, their powers manifest in accordance to their genus and therefore the caste they belong to. As the Tsuchigumo grows stronger, their body evolves to better accommodate their roles in the Brood's society.

Bloodline Limits & Drawbacks
- Being nature-bound, Tsuchigumo may never learn bukijutsu or kenjutsu. The use of weapons is restricted to the non-metallic sort, and metallic armour is considered too cumbersome for their light-weighted bodies.
- Spiders are sensitive to cold temperatures; it tends to send them into hibernation. Tsuchigumo are not an exception though it doesn't necessarily put them to sleep. A Tsuchigumo treading regions with frigid temperatures or hit by Ice techniques suffers a penalty to their Coordination (-) and Speed (-). While this penalty doesn't stack with itself, it remains applied for the remainder of the thread.

In any of their forms, the Tsuchigumo retains the ability to crawl upon any solid surface free of cost. They must pay 1 chakra/post to manoeuvre on moving or liquid surfaces much like shinobi eventually learn to do.
- Shapeshifting:
A Tsuchigumo learns soon enough how to turn their natural spider-form into an acceptable human form. This ability takes 5 chakra upon performing, but their form remains indefinitely thereafter. It is limited to one change/post.

- Razvij Caste:
It is hard to define what the Razvij really mean within the Brood without breaking it down to 'muscle force'. These are the members who dig the tunnels and build the traps. They are the brute warriors, stoic defenders and the relentless hunters of the Brood's enemies. Shocktroopers and warlords alike, what these arachnids lack in poison and webbing, they make up on raw physical prowess.

- Otrovni Caste:
The Otrovni are best known for their affiliation with poisons but their tasks with the Brood are oddly versatile. Rare is the occasion where they take on a direct, frontal approach to things, instead tending to rely on patience, cunning and guerrilla tactics. At the same time, their instinctive knowledge on poisons also makes them remarkably good care-takers within the Brood. The more peaceful members often focus on milking their natural venom to bolster the threat of those with lesser potent poison, or even use their insights to better heal a variety of natural and chakra poisons.

- Tkalac Caste:
The Tkalac are the web-weavers of the Brood and more commonly serve in supportive roles since they are less threatening overall due to the lack of potent poison. It is their spider silk which often serves as the base for a variety of the goods being produced by the Brood. Spidersilk clothes, an envy of the richer human population, is said to be soft, beautiful and tear-resistant. On a similar level is it said that several layers of the Tkalac webbing, infused with chakra, can turn any soft-looking wall of webs into an obstacle as durable as a stone wall.

- Voda Caste:
Last but not least of the castes are those who serve the Brood in a position of leadership. Among those are the Tyrannis (the de facto leader of the Brood), the brood mothers (those who give birth to, carry, raise and nurture the spiderlings) and mind weavers (the guides and scholars). It is their task to ensure the future of the Brood under the philosophy that only the strong will remain.
One should take into account that while the Voda maintain an impression of power and influence, they are the members who are most likely to rely upon the other Brood members to achieve their goals. A Voda failing to keep the Brood's future and evolution in mind will quickly become food for the next generation.

Culture/Lore: It is the Voda Caste's birthright to command the Brood. It is their right to call upon them upon times of need and send them out on the battlefield. One spider, a horde of spiders, it matters not. The Voda knows which direction the Brood must go; what is good for them. And so the Brood comes and listens.

Designated Skill: Taijutsu, Ninjutsu, Genjutsu + Ijutsu
Summoning Method: As is traditionally the case, an inkling of blood is sacrificed along the Kuchiyose no Jutsu skill before slamming the hand against any kind of surface. Upon contact, a Fuinjutsu Gate is created which connects the homeworld of the Brood with the current position of the Summoner, allowing the Summon(s) to heed the call.
Requirements: Tsuchigumo Brood, Voda Caste only
Drawbacks: The Brood does not respond in arctic regions.
Holders: The Tyrannis of the Swarm is always considered the owner of the contract.

Description: The 'Sea of Nightmares' technique commands a summoned spider swarm to rush towards one ore more targets on a singular path, wash over them and drag them away as if the horde was a strong current of water. While minor bites may be suffered in the process, the damage is overall negligible as the purpose is first and foremost to displace opponents.
If targets can't be moved for some reason, they'll suffer a coordination debuff (- -) instead as maintaining balance and aiming becomes increasingly harder.
