    Land of Iron Law

While the Land of Iron is goverened by the Bushido Code, which itself will be explained in more detail in a further post in this thread, there is still the matter of crime in the village. All actions will be weighed to the standards of Bushido, and each case treated fairly and justly. As the Samurai govern themselves, it will be the duty of each and every one of us to uphold the law in Tetsumura and the greater Land of Iron...

    Potential Infractions

    • Disturbing the peace
    • Littering
    • Loitering
    • Public Intoxication
    • Bribery
    • Conspiracy
    • Disorderly Conduct
    • Encouraging or assisting a crime
    • Harassment
    • Intimidation
    • Petty Theft
    • Simple Assault

    Approved Drugs:

    • Alcohol

As you can see, the list is rather large, but most cases will be looked at on a case by case basis and judged against the Code of Bushido. Something like Littering may gain you a lecture, where as something like Sexual Assault or Murder will generally lead to an execution.

    The Bushido Code

The Bushido Code is the governing set of tenants passed down by the Council of Clans to help guide all aspects of the lives of the citizens of the Land of Iron and their Samurai. The Samurai, or They Who Serve, are sworn to uphold these tenants. They are as follows:

    • Justice: Justice is a core value of the Samurai. Incorporating the Bushido principle of justice into your life requires reflecting on what is fair and upholding the value of upstanding moral character.
    • Courage: Courage, like justice, entails deciphering what is right and wrong. Courage requires the strength not only to perceive but also to act.
    • Compassion: Compassion is the ability to manifest love and sympathy through patience. It also requires attempting to see the world from the perspective of another. This is an especially important trait for those in a leadership role.
    • Respect: Respect means that you acknowledge your regard for the experiences and feelings of others. In order to collaborate with another person, politeness must be employed.
    • Integrity: In order to practice many of the other principles listed, one has to maintain integrity. This means living honestly and sincerely.
    • Honor: Samurai were warriors who upheld a sense of self worth and lived by the highest code of conduct. In order to abide by the principle of honor, you must acknowledge your moral responsibilities.
    • Loyalty: First, stay true to yourself. When fealty is given to another, this must not be abandoned even under difficult circumstances.
    • Self-control: Self-control in the Bushido code means adhering to this code under all circumstances, when with others and when alone.

All crimes will be weighed against these eight tenants, and judging by those punishment will be decided. If you witness a crime, you may attempt to detain the criminal in order to weight their crimes. To successfully detain a person you must firmly approach the suspect, state their offense, and let them know they are being detained. Attempt to bind their hands to prevent the use of hand signs and weaponry and their feet to prohibit escape (refer to the Wrap and Cinch Double Column technique for most effective detainment.) If resistance is met, use pain compliance (physical harm to get a suspect to obey commands) or, if in your arsenal, a Five-Elements Seal Tag or any applicable paralysis technique to subdue an aggressive suspect.

Punishment should be reviewed with the Shogun or one of their guard. Only then can a punishment be carried out.
